High Toynton Celebrates Church Restoration
High Toynton is celebrating the restoration of the church after the tower collapse with a service of Re-Dedication on Sunday 10th May taken by The Right Reverend Jean Burgess, Bishop of Grimsby. Everyone is welcome. Please see below for full details.
HAVE YOU CONSIDERED HIGH TOYNTON CHURCH AS A HANDY PLACE TO TAKE YOUR VISITORS??
If people are interested in social history, High Toynton has a rich vein of fascinating stories and information now accessible through a clever bit of kit situated in the Church. A great deal of research and hard work has gone into the programming of our “Info Point”. The device is akin to a tablet or I Pad, with a menu enabling visitors to access the history of this Doubly Thankful Village, some of its unique stories and photos, creative games (engrossing for young grannies as well as wise kids), music specially composed for us and even interviews with some of the elders of the parish! There is a QR code so this can also be accessed on your phone. Come and have a play any time you wish but please contact us before your visit: 07778 592783, so we can unlock.
In line with our aim of enjoying the Church as a space where community can get together socially as well as for worship, some villagers with probably more enthusiasm than proficiency, have fun games of table tennis each Monday at 6pm. Everyone is welcome for the small contribution of £2.
We are now raising money for Phase 2 of our project: the refurbishment of the interior which includes levelling the floor, provision of a kitchenette and and an outdoor toilet. The summer events that follow will help this initiative.
MUSIC FESTIVAL
Also keep in mind the date for our annual Music Festival: Sunday August 16th. A number of quality bands will be performing in the church, alongside workshops (drumming etc) and refreshments including a BBQ. This year we also hope to host an open mic stage, weather providing. Enjoy the special ambience of this small festival which is open to all for a donation towards “High Toynton Renewed”.
Music Festival 14th September 2025
An inflow of scintillating energy surged into High Toynton on Sunday
with the colourful crowds who came to experience wild drumming in the
paddock.... Ethereal acoustics for morning pop up choral workshop in the
church...... Sparkling harmonies, exquisite fiddling, tremendous chords
and foot tapping rhythms with no less than seven live bands all
afternoon. Not to mention the cake. The church rocked for it's baptism
- a fantastic accolade for all the hard work that has gone into it in
the last 5 years after the collapse of the tower. Nearly £900 raised.
Ceilidh
Tremendous fun was had at the High Toynton Ceilidh at Stanhope Hall on the evening of Saturday 5th October which raised £1,000 towards "High Toynton Renewed". Laughter, good fellowship and superb music. Musicians including Tom Lane, Dave Fletcher, Dick Appleton and the internationally acclaimed duo Winter Wilson performed their compositions of high quality Folk Songs, commissioned specially by High Toynton, on the theme of "Collapse and Renewal", celebrating the power of togetherness in this group of villagers to generate renewal rather than collapse when their Church Tower fell down. The musicians have made a CD of their songs which will make a fab gift of local interest. Yours for a suggested donation of £10 + £1.50 postage. CD’s can be ordered from:
hightoynton@gmail.com
Payments can be made by BACS to High Toynton PCC, Account 13121768 and Sort no 30 94 39. Cheques made payable to High Toynton PCC can be sent to Gravelpit Cottages, Church Lane, High Toynton LN9 6NN. Please remember to include the address for where you want the CD sent to.
